Ekiti politician Opeyemi Falegan has issued a public apology to Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing, nearly five years after their highly publicised relationship came to an end.
The former couple, who split in April 2022, had spent years engaging in a bitter, public exchange of accusations across social media.
The reconciliation attempt unfolded over the weekend during a live session on TikTok, where both parties discussed the events that led to their separation and shared their contrasting perspectives on the fallout.
During the broadcast, Blessing made it clear that moving past the drama required more than just the passage of time. She insisted on receiving a public apology, specifically pointing to previous remarks Falegan made about her online that she believes fueled their ongoing conflict. The actress noted that those old comments continue to resurface on the internet, where her critics use them against her.
While she stressed that their disagreement should not make them enemies, she maintained that true reconciliation is impossible without accountability. “There’s no letting go without an apology,” she stated firmly.
In response, Falegan acknowledged that he has grown significantly since their split. While he suggested that both individuals likely hold their own versions of what transpired, he agreed it was time to put the matter to rest.
He subsequently offered his apology, expressing his desire for Blessing not to harbor any anger toward him.
“A gentleman wouldn’t extend the words of the lady. And another thing you need to understand is this: who I was yesterday is not who I am today,” Falegan said.
