Ahead of Saturday’s local government elections in Lagos State, Executive Director of the Remi Odunsi Oluwalogbon Organisation and former House of Representatives aspirant for Kosofe Federal Constituency, Mrs Remi Odunsi, has called on residents of Kosofe and neighbouring areas to rally behind candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly the women vying for chairmanship positions.

In a statement obtained by Adamimogo FM Nigeria, Mrs Odunsi urged voters, especially women and young people, to support the APC chairmanship candidate seeking re-election for Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Bada and Adetola Adunni Abubakar as Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

Describing both women as “tested and trusted hands,” she noted that their public service history speaks to their competence and dedication to the needs of their communities.

“These are women who have been present and active in their localities, responding to the needs of residents, supporting infrastructure, health and education initiatives, and showing what leadership can look like at the local level,” she said.

Odunsi also threw her weight behind the re-election bid of Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, whom she praised for what she described as “measurable and people-centred governance.”

According to her, “ Ogunlewe and Bada have collectively delivered key developmental projects across Kosofe and its LCDAs. Over 60 roads have either been constructed or rehabilitated. Security has seen a boost through local initiatives, and some of the largest and best-equipped primary healthcare centres in the axis were built under their watch. Countless residents, particularly women and youths have benefited from economic empowerment programmes.”

She also noted that Abubakar, having served in various capacities at the local government level was capable of continuing the good works of the outgoing chairman, Hon. Dele Osinowo.

She added that the APC’s governance record at both state and local levels had laid the groundwork for sustained development across Lagos. “Lagos today is a model among states in Nigeria, and that is largely due to the structure, vision and consistency of the APC. The upcoming local government elections offer us another opportunity to deepen this progress.”

Mrs Odunsi also appealed to young voters to take the elections seriously, warning against apathy at the grassroots level. “Local government is the closest form of government to the people. It determines the state of our inner roads, markets, health centres, and how quickly local needs are addressed. To ignore it is to ignore the foundation of development,” she said.

She encouraged eligible voters in the state to come out en masse on Saturday, 12 July, to vote for APC candidates across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in the state, expressing confidence that the party would sweep the polls.

“We are going into this election with confidence, not arrogance. We believe the people have seen the work, and we trust they will vote in favour of continued progress.”

The local government elections are scheduled to take place across all 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.
