Prince Harry has paid tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, by visiting a landmine clearance site in Angola, bringing to mind her iconic 1997 trip that brought global attention to the deadly remnants of war.
The Duke of Sussex was in the Central African country to support the ongoing work of the Halo Trust, the same charity that Princess Diana famously championed during her campaign against landmines.
“Children should never have to live in fear of playing outside or walking to school,” Prince Harry said, highlighting the continued risk unexploded landmines pose to civilians.
His visit not only honoured his mother’s legacy but also reinforced the urgent need to clear landmines from post-conflict regions.
Recall that in 1997, Princess Diana walked through a cleared path in a minefield, wearing body armour and a visor. The image remains one of the most powerful reminders of her humanitarian work.
