Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, a prominent leader of the African Democratic Congress, has declared that the party’s emerging alliance with the Obidient Movement will oust the ruling All Progressives Congress from power in the 2027 general elections.
The former APC National Chairman made the statement on Monday in Benin City during a large-scale defection of Obidient Movement members into the ADC in Edo State.
The event follows last month’s formal entry of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi into the ADC.
Addressing the new members, Odigie-Oyegun framed the movement’s influx as proof of widespread public readiness, particularly among the youth, to pursue leadership change and national renewal.
“A new Nigeria is truly possible,” he asserted. “Today is the first time I am seeing youths who are genuinely committed to nation-building.”
Oyegun highlighted that the ADC’s recent growth which also includes high-profile figures such as publisher Dele Momodu strengthens confidence in the party’s capacity to drive political transformation.
He also noted that the commitment shown by Obidient supporters reinforces the belief that electoral shift is achievable.
