Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has debunked claims that he is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Saturday, Adeleke described the reports as false and misleading. He affirmed that he remains committed to the PDP and will seek re-election under its banner.
“Our attention has been drawn to reports about the imminent defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC or alignment with ADC bigwigs ahead of the 2026 governorship race,” the statement read. “There is no truth in those publications and speculations.”
Adeleke said that his political trajectory is firmly rooted in the PDP and that he has no political ties or alliances with members of the ADC.
He also referenced the Osun PDP’s recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, suggesting that the party’s position further contradicts any rumoured alignment with ADC.
“I remain in the PDP, will run in the PDP, and need no alliance with the ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026,” the governor stated confidently.
