Akeem Babatunde Abass has been elected the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.
Abass secured victory with 143 votes, defeating his closest competitors in a keenly contested election held recently.
The outgoing State Secretary of the union, Mr. Sola Oladapo, garnered 59 votes, while Mr. Raji Adebayo polled 118 votes.
A total of five votes were declared void at the end of the exercise.
Abass will succeed Ademola Babalola who has served as Chairman of the Union since 2019.
