The President of the senate, Godswill Akpabio has reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th Senate to uphold Nigeria’s constitution, describing it as the foundation that governs all citizens and guides the nation’s democratic processes.
Akpabio speaking at today’s plenary after a ten week recess, stated that the government is aware that citizens demand results, assuring that the Senate would remain open, accountable, and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
The lawmaker also encouraged Nigerians not to be swayed by theatrics and political gimmicks, but insist on quality representation and credibility, as politicians begin the race to secure votes to sustain their ambitions and political career.
Meanwhile, the embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, made her long anticipated return to the chambers, after a six-month suspension.
The lawmaker was suspended on grounds of misconduct and disregard for house regulations after a public fallout with the senate president over allegations of sexual misconduct.
