A former Borno State governor and ex-national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, has claimed that Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will rejoin the PDP before the 2027 general elections.
Sheriff made the assertion during an appearance on Politics Today, a political programme on Channels Television, that aired on Monday.
According to Sheriff, Obi’s political future remains tied to the PDP, despite his recent alignment with the Labour Party. “Peter Obi is coming back to the PDP,” he said confidently, although he offered no concrete timeline or evidence to support the claim.
Sheriff claimed that the former Anambra governor would pursue his presidential ambition through the PDP in 2027.
Recall that Obi, who served as governor of Anambra State, resigned from the PDP on May 25, 2022, just days before the party’s presidential primary.
