The Federal Government has downplayed speculations surrounding a potential alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling the move an “unfruitful adventure.”
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, made the statement during a political current affairs programme on Sunday, where he dismissed the opposition’s political strategies as outdated and deceptive.
Reacting to reports of renewed political realignment, Keyamo said Nigerians have become politically discerning and would not be swayed by what he described as “419 tactics” employed by opposition elements.
“They know us very well, and we also know them very well. We are not strangers to each other. Some of these tactics they are using are what I call 419 tactics. These tactics have expired,” he stated.
He criticised the proposed alliance reportedly involving key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and labelled it a recycled attempt at forming a coalition with no real ideological or grassroots substance.
Keyamo also took a swipe at one of the opposition leaders, accusing him of hypocrisy by projecting himself as a voice for the masses while living in affluence.
