CBEX: Cleric Warns Nigerians Against Ponzi Schemes, Overnight Wealth

Prominent cleric and planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Adamimogo, Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide, Prophet Sam Olu-Alo, has cautioned Nigerians against falling for Ponzi schemes, describing them as traps fuelled by greed and desperation.

Speaking to Journalists, at the Easter programme themed God of Elijah, held at Adamimogo Jesus City in Lekki, Lagos, the cleric expressed concern over the staggering N1.3 trillion reportedly lost by investors in the collapsed CBN-linked Cbex scheme.

“It’s shocking to see that, despite complaints of hardship, Nigerians could muster trillions to invest in a scheme they barely understood,” Olu-Alo said. “Someone claimed to be unemployed but still invested millions. Where did the money come from? What were they expecting in return?”

He warned that the pursuit of quick wealth often ends in regret. “There’s no shortcut to riches. Any money you didn’t work for will eventually slip through your hands. Wealth earned without effort usually ends in sorrow,” he added.

While urging Nigerians to remain cautious and avoid speculative ventures, Olu-Alo also called on the government to create more job opportunities and provide support for small businesses. According to him, a stable economy with viable employment options would discourage citizens from chasing risky investments.

The prophet expressed optimism in the efforts of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which has pledged to recover lost funds and is collaborating with Interpol to bring those behind the scam to justice.
