The father of Afrobeats superstar Davido has publicly disclosed that scientific evidence has resolved a years-long paternity dispute, confirming that the musician is not the biological father of a child at the centre of the controversy.
Dr. Deji Adeleke, speaking to journalists at his Lagos residence on Wednesday, stated that DNA tests conducted at multiple hospitals in Lagos definitively show his son, David Adeleke (Davido), is not the father of the girl named Aanu. The businessman recounted first being alerted to the claim nearly a decade ago, in 2014, when he received a legal letter from Ibadan alleging Davido had fathered a child with a woman named Ayo Labinjoh and subsequently abandoned them.
The letter, according to Adeleke, included photographs of the child, Davido, and the mother, alongside the child’s birth certificate.
Addressing the situation, Adeleke emphasized his openness to more grandchildren but insisted on scientific verification. “I have 14 grandchildren, so what will one more do?” he stated. “I want more grandchildren, but there is science — DNA. If you say you are my granddaughter and science has proven that you are my granddaughter, I would gladly accept you.”
The announcement brings a conclusive end to a claim that has lingered for years, with the Adeleke family now formally dismissing the allegation based on the presented medical evidence.
