De Genius Olivet College, Tigbo’lu, Tigbo Town, has once again emerged as Nigeria’s top secondary school in science after winning the 2025 National Science and Technology Competition organized by the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN).
The finals, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, featured contestants from all 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory. De Genius Olivet College, representing Ogun State, claimed first place after defeating other schools across the country.
The institution had also clinched the top prize in the 2024 edition of the competition, making this the second consecutive victory for the school.
At the event’s opening ceremony, Noimot Salako, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, representing the Governor, commended the participating schools fo their creativity and innovation. De Genius Olivet College’s winning project was a locally fabricated machine capable of converting sewage and excreta into reusable water.
At the other levels of the competition, the school also returned 3rd with an Ultra-Modern Seed Planting and Chemical Spraying Machine, designed to automate farming processes and reduce labour costs.
The traditional ruler of Tigbo’lu, Oba Victor Thomas Fagbayi, the Onitigbo of Tigbo’lu, congratulated the students and tutors of the school for bringing pride to the town and to Ogun State.
Proprietor of the school, Hon. Ahmed Ipoola Omisore, also expressed his delight at the achievement, describing it as a testament to the institution’s commitment to excellence in science and technology education.
