Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) has resumed its inquiry into the disappearance of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, with plans to question individuals believed to have information relevant to the case.
Idris, a lecturer at Federal University Dutsinma, was last seen on August 1, 2019, when unidentified gunmen reportedly took him from his home in Kaduna. Despite years of public appeals and speculation, his location and condition remain unknown.
The renewed action by security authorities comes as his wife, Kadijah, once again voiced anguish over the prolonged uncertainty.
Speaking in a video conversation shared online by Ambassador-designate Reno Omokri, she reflected on the emotional toll of the unresolved case and expressed hope that her husband would eventually return.
Omokri, who visited the family, urged greater public attention and support while promising to pursue justice on their behalf. Kadijah’s remarks also followed recent public comments attributed to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, which have reignited discussions about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
