The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Mr. Kayode Babatuyi, has been honoured with an award of excellence by the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Ekiti State Chapter.
The recognition was presented during the union’s Gala Night held in Ado Ekiti, barely two weeks after Babatuyi was similarly celebrated by the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU).
The National President of ASUSS, Mr. Sola Adigun, who presented the award, described Babatuyi as a “thoroughbred professional” known for his diligence, creativity, and commitment to ethical journalism. Adigun praised the NUJ chairman’s leadership style, noting that it consistently reflects integrity and excellence.
Other dignitaries at the event commended Babatuyi for his contributions to media development in Ekiti State, encouraging fellow journalists to emulate his professionalism and dedication to public service.
In his response, Babatuyi, who is also a staff member of Radio Nigeria’s Progress FM in Ado Ekiti, expressed gratitude to God, his employer, and his colleagues in the state’s media industry.
He recalled beginning his career as a SIWES student at Radio Nigeria and pledged that the award would further motivate him to uphold quality journalism and responsible leadership.
