The Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development has issued a travel advisory for motorists journeying from Lagos to Ado-Ekiti, urging road users to avoid certain bad routes and instead opt for smoother alternatives.
According to the agency, the Ilesa–Akure Express Road through Iwaraja Junction, Efon, Itawure, Erio, Adamoko, Igede, and Iyin is currently in poor condition and poses significant travel difficulties. Drivers are strongly advised to avoid this stretch due to its bad state.
Instead, travelers are encouraged to take alternative routes that guarantee safer and smoother rides. One recommended path is the Ilesa–Akure Expressway via Iwaraja Junction, Efon, Ipole Iloro, Ikogosi, and Ilawe, leading directly into Ado-Ekiti. Another viable option is through the Ilesa–Akure Expressway via Igbara-Oke Junction, passing through Igbara Odo and Ilawe before arriving in Ado-Ekiti.
The advisory comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Ekiti State government to improve travel experiences for visitors and residents, particularly those heading into the state for business, tourism, or festive activities.
The Bureau reassured travelers that these alternative routes remain motorable and scenic, offering smoother rides while avoiding the challenges associated with the bad sections of the highway.
