The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in partnership with MTN Nigeria, has launched free WiFi services at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Olubunmi Kuku, was represented at the event by the Director of Airport Operations, Captain Abdullahi Mahmood
Speaking at the launch, Captain Mahmood described the initiative as a major milestone for FAAN and a benchmark in enhancing digital infrastructure and passenger experience at Nigerian airports. He noted that the collaboration with MTN Nigeria underscores the effectiveness of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements in modernising infrastructure and supporting Nigeria’s digital economy.
He added that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the transformation drive of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
Also in attendance was Chief Enterprise Business Officer of MTN Nigeria, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, who assured users that the WiFi service would be reliable, secure and efficient. She commended FAAN’s management for its foresight and commitment in ensuring the successful execution of the project.
The free internet service is available to passengers and other airport users and is expected to be extended to the MMIA temporary terminal and other international airports across the country within the next three months.
The initiative marks a significant step in improving connectivity and overall passenger satisfaction at Nigeria’s major international gateways.
