The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has cautioned Nigerians against falling victim to fraudsters posing as agents for the sale of 753 housing units recently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) formally handed over the estate to the ministry in May 2025. At the time, Minister of Housing, Ahmed Dangiwa, said the government would dispose of the properties through a transparent, competitive process consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
But in a fresh statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the ministry clarified that it had not authorised any individual or corporate entity to sell the houses.
“The public is strongly advised to disregard any claims by persons or organisations parading themselves as agents appointed to sell the forfeited housing units,” the statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, read in part.
The ministry assured that details of the sale would be officially announced in due course, stressing that only verified channels would be used to communicate the process.
The seized 753 housing units are expected to be disposed of under government-supervised terms designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and accessibility for Nigerians.
