A devastating fire has razed the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria in Challenge, Ibadan, destroying studios, offices, and critical broadcast equipment.
The blaze, which broke out on Friday evening, left the studios of Fresh 105.9 and Blast 98.3 badly damaged, with adjoining facilities such as the newsroom, transmitter and server rooms, and other essential equipment completely gutted.
Initial attempts to contain the fire with in-house extinguishers proved unsuccessful before professional firefighters arrived at the scene.
Officials say the strength of the inferno made it difficult to control, and the exact cause of the incident has yet to be determined. The full extent of the damage is also still being assessed.
Despite the devastation, the station expressed gratitude to residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service who rallied to help during the emergency. Their quick response, according to Fresh FM management, prevented the disaster from spreading beyond the complex.
Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, commended the support of “good-spirited Nigerians” who assisted during the crisis, stressing that the station remains committed to resuming full operations as soon as possible.
