First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme, has provided support to 250 elderly citizens in Oyo State.
Each beneficiary received N200,000 at the 3rd Edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS), held under the theme “Finding Joy in Old Age.”
The event, which took place in Ibadan, was attended by the wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, who represented the First Lady. Mrs. Makinde encouraged the elderly to prioritize their health and cherish time with family, noting that the support was timed to assist them during the Christmas and New Year festive season.
The Oyo State disbursement is part of a larger national program. A total of N1.9 billion is being distributed across all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA). Each state coordinator received N50 million, from which N200,000 is allocated to individual beneficiaries.
In addition to the financial aid, the program includes free medical check-ups and other essential items for the elderly.
