Popular gospel artist Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, widely known by her stage name Omije Ojumi, has died. The sad news was announced on Tuesday via a statement shared on Instagram by fellow gospel singer Ayo Melody on behalf of the family.
The announcement, accompanied by a photograph and a short video clip, confirmed that she passed away on January 12, 2026, at a Lagos hospital. The statement read in part: “With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye OMIJE OJUMI, passed away on 12th January, 2026, at Lagos hospital, Nigeria. May God grant her eternal rest.”
It was signed by Olawale Akinnaanu on behalf of the family.
While the exact cause of death was not disclosed, the late singer had previously shared publicly about struggling with a leg complication, asking for prayers from her followers and the wider public several months ago.
Omije Ojumi rose to national recognition and gospel music prominence with her uplifting track “Omije Ojumi,” which won her a devoted fan base across Nigeria and beyond.
