Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has once again etched her name into history, thrilling thousands as she cooked the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice, a Guinness World Record first.
The event, which drew more than 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and influencers, turned into a festival of culture, cuisine, and celebration. Baci, known for her marathon cooking exploits, described the attempt as both a culinary and cultural statement.
“To keep the authenticity of the jollof rice, I applied some mathematics,” she told journalists. “We will still watch it while it is cooking to make sure that everything is right.”
The day began on a spiritual note, with Baci holding an emotional prayer session led by Pastor Bolaji Idowu of the Havesters Church, before firing up the giant pots.
High-profile personalities, including designer Veekee James, media star Tomike Adeoye, and influencer Enioluwa, turned up in style to cheer her on. Guinness World Records also showed support, commenting on her Instagram post: “Best of luck, Hilda and team!”
The crowd roared in excitement when award-winning filmmaker Funke Akindele arrived unannounced. She electrified the arena with dance steps that sent the audience into a frenzy, further fueling the festive mood.
