The Ibadan Book and Arts Festival (IbaFest), in collaboration with the NuStreams Conference and Culture Centre, has announced a special pre-festival event titled “The Polymath’s Journey – A Conversation with Dr. Tunde Adegbola on Humanity, Technology, and the Yoruba Worldview.”
The event is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the NuStreams Conference and Culture Centre, KM 110, Alalubosa GRA, Abeokuta Road, Ibadan.
Dr. Tunde Adegbola, respected polymath, scholar, and cultural advocate is celebrated for his pioneering work in language technology and for championing Yoruba cultural preservation. With decades of contributions at the intersection of science, innovation, and tradition, he embodies the rare blend of humanistic insight and technical brilliance.
The session will offer an intimate reflection on his life’s work and cultural philosophy, examining how his vision continues to influence thinking on humanity, technology, and African worldviews.
Organisers say the conversation also forms part of a monthlong multimedia exhibition honouring Dr. Adegbola’s 70th birthday, with installations showcasing his career and legacy across disciplines.
The programme is positioned as a curtain-raiser for the inaugural Ibadan Book and Arts Festival (IbaFest), which will take place on October 24–25, 2025, at the University of Ibadan’s International Conference Centre. The festival, themed “The Past as Prologue to the Future,” will bring together writers, artists, and cultural leaders to celebrate creativity, literature, and African intellectual heritage.
Admission to The Polymath’s Journey is free and open to the public.
