The Ikeja Local Government has issued an official rebuttal to allegations by journalist, Rufai Oseni regarding the alleged unauthorized installation of an iron gate on a pedestrian bridge across the railway corridor at Ikeja Along, Lagos.
Oseni had in a social media post claimed that the local government erected the gate on a bridge managed by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, describing the action as unconstitutional and an overreach of authority.

However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Olalekan Oni, dismissed the claims as unfounded, stating that the bridge belongs to the Lagos State Government, not the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
Speaking on Adamimogo 93.1 FM on the matter, Oni further explained that the installation of the gate was the outcome of an agreement among residents of the community aimed at curbing criminal activities in the area.
He assured that the administration remains committed to ensuring public safety and is open to constructive dialogue. He also urged media organisations to verify information before publishing it to the public.
