The Independent National Electoral Commission has issued a public warning against a false article circulating online that purports to contain the official timetable for the 2027 General Elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday through its verified communication channels, INEC categorically dismissed the information as inauthentic and urged the public to disregard it entirely. The Commission clarified that it has not released any official timetable, schedule of activities, or specific dates for the 2027 polls.
“Any document or report claiming otherwise is fabricated,” INEC stated. “The details in the false article, including specific election dates, campaign periods, and party primary windows, are entirely speculative and without any official basis. They do not represent the plans or position of INEC.”
The electoral body further called on Nigerians, political parties, civil society organizations, and all stakeholders to rely solely on verified INEC platforms for accurate information.
These include its official website (inecnigeria.org), authenticated social media handles (@inecnigeria on X, Facebook, and Instagram), and officially issued press statements.
“The general public is strongly advised to ignore this misleading report,” the statement emphasized. “INEC will make official announcements regarding the 2027 General Elections through the proper channels at the appropriate time.”
