The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a graphic circulating online claiming that the commission announced March 26 as the deadline for government officials seeking election to resign from office.
In a statement, INEC said the information is false and did not originate from the commission.
It described the graphic being shared on social media as fake and misleading.
The commission advised members of the public, media organisations and political stakeholders to disregard the message entirely.
INEC also clarified that all official announcements and updates from the commission are published only through its verified platforms, including its official website, verified social media accounts and official press releases.
The commission urged citizens to always verify election-related information through its official channels and avoid sharing unverified content capable of misleading the public.
INEC reiterated its commitment to providing accurate, timely and transparent information to Nigerians.
