Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is set to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in what has been observed as a realignment in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Kwankwaso, who was a leading figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has reportedly concluded plans to formally exit the party and consolidate his political base under a new platform.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Dr. Habibu Mohammad, it was disclosed that the former presidential candidate would officially register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026.
The registration is scheduled to take place at his residence, Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located on Miller Road in Kano, by noon.
The statement further confirmed that Kwankwaso has directed members of the influential Kwankwasiyya Movement to follow suit by registering with the ADC across their respective wards, local government areas, and states nationwide.
