The Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway will undergo a partial closure for four weeks beginning Wednesday, February 11, 2026, to allow for rehabilitation works by the Federal Ministry of Works.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday via his official X account. According to him, the repairs will cover the stretch from U-Turn Bus Stop to Sango Tollgate, affecting both inbound and outbound lanes of the busy corridor.
“The rehabilitation work is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and end on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, spanning a period of four weeks,” the statement read.
Osiyemi explained that to reduce traffic congestion and ease the impact on commuters, the project would be carried out in two phases.
Phase One will focus on the Abeokuta-bound carriageway and is scheduled to run from Wednesday, February 11, to Wednesday, March 4, 2026. This phase will involve repairs on the section from U-Turn Bus Stop inward to Sango Tollgate.
Details of Phase Two, which will address traffic heading toward Lagos, are expected to follow as authorities implement traffic management measures to minimise disruption.
The Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway is a major transport artery linking Lagos to Ogun State and other parts of the Southwest, and motorists have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly during the rehabilitation period.
