The Lagos state government has intensified efforts to enhance visibility, improve road safety, and boost economic activities at night, by installing and retrofitting solar powered street lights across major roads in the state.
The senior special assistant to the governor of new media, Jubril Gawat revealed this in a post, noting that government is removing old fittings and poles , with new installations currently being carried out from ikorodu road, moving from jibowo to fadeyi down to Maryland and towards ojota.
According to him, several key routes have already been completed, including muritala Muhammad way, jibowo, iddo, eko bridge, marina bridge, old toll gate , olusosun, and lekki ikoyi link bridge.
He further stated that some major roads such as western avenue, gbagada, oshodi expressway , muritala Muhammad international airport way , governors road, alausa and environs, alapere , ogude , agric ikorodu, ikorodu road, and lekki epe express way , are currently witnessing active installation and quick changes.
He assured residents that the initiative will soon extend to the lekki epe expressway and other strategic locations.
