Lagos state commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab has directed the immediate evacuation of illegal occupants at the underbelly of the new Opebi–Mende Bridge.
Wahab in a post on social media noted that the squatters were discovered during an unscheduled inspection with the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, and the Permanent Secretary, Olatokunbo Oyenuga.
According to him, he gave a marching order for the immediate dislodgement of squatters who have taken over the underbelly of the project, almost ready for commissioning.
Wahab stated clearly that the government will not tolerate lawlessness, directing security agencies to move in immediately, to ensure squatters do not return.
