Lagos state commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh, has warned officers of the command to desist from practices like extortion, violation of human rights and the unprofessional practice of name-calling, particularly at youths.
Jimoh said this at a strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders, calling on all officers to uphold the rights and dignity of every citizen,as crime prevention must be done with a human face.
He particularly cautioned police officers against checking phones of individuals, insisting that such can only be carried out if the devices involved are exhibits in established cases under investigation and within the police station, in accordance with the law.
The police chief urged residents to continue to assist and cooperate with the police by providing credible information in their localities at all times, noting that the security of the state is the duty of all stakeholders.
