The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, says the command has stepped up deployments across schools, worship centres and other public spaces as part of measures to forestall any security breaches in the state.
Addressing journalists on Monday at the command headquarters in Ikeja, Jimoh assured residents that Lagos remains safe, stressing that the tightened security operations would continue throughout the ember months and into the New Year.
“We want the general public to know that Lagos is safe and secure. We have made additional deployments to all schools, places of worship, religious centres and other locations frequently visited by people to ensure all worshippers are safe. This will continue into the New Year and beyond to ensure the safety of all Lagosians and other Nigerians coming into the state,” he said.
Jimoh noted that there was no cause for alarm, adding that the command was also working to strengthen its tactical teams across all local government areas.
The renewed vigilance comes against the backdrop of rising insecurity in parts of the country, including recent abductions in Kwara, Kebbi and Niger states, heightening concerns about public safety nationwide.
