The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has assured residents that more buses will be deployed to address gaps in the state’s transport system.

Head of Corporate Communications at LAMATA,Kolawole Ojelabi, made the statement in response to a recent incident involving a social media content creator in the Ikorodu area.

Ojelabi noted that the current fleet of vehicles is insufficient to adequately serve commuters but assured that additional buses would be brought in before the end of the year.

He also criticised some high-profile motorists especially uniformed personnel who violate traffic regulations by driving through dedicated BRT lanes, warning that such offences attract severe sanctions.

Earlier this week, the content creator had highlighted a shortage of buses at an Ikorodu bus stop, sparking public discussion.

Her post prompted swift government action, with commuters in the area expressing gratitude for the rapid deployment of more buses on the route.

“We don’t have enough buses…We are talking to a number of people; there’s someone who wants to bring in 2,000 buses.”
