A solemn yet reflective mood enveloped mourners in Osogbo as family, friends and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to Mrs. Beatrice Adebayo, whose burial ceremony became a solemn reminder of life’s fleeting nature and the certainty of eternity.
Delivering the sermon, Rev. Abel Adedayo of the Apostolic Faith Church, Osogbo, described life as a temporary passage, urging believers to remain steadfast in doing God’s will.
“The world is a preparatory ground,” he said, noting that only those who live righteously would find lasting joy beyond this life.
Mrs. Adebayo, who passed away on February 9, 2026, just three days after celebrating her 84th birthday was laid to rest on March 20, 2026, in a ceremony marked by deep emotions and heartfelt tributes.
The funeral rites began with a service of songs, where loved ones recounted her life of devotion, kindness and unwavering faith. This was followed by a lying-in-state and interment, drawing a large turnout of sympathisers.
Tributes poured in from family members who described the late matriarch as a pillar of love and compassion. Her son, Tope Adebayo, alongside other relatives, spoke of her enduring legacy of generosity and selflessness.
Her granddaughter, Elizabeth Olaniyan, expressed shock at her passing but said the values instilled by her grandmother would remain a guiding force in her life.
The ceremony also featured choir ministrations and children’s renditions, each echoing the virtues that defined Mrs. Adebayo’s life.
In his closing message, Rev. Adedayo challenged attendees to reflect on their own lives, posing a question that lingered long after the ceremony: how well are we preparing for eternity?
Family members revealed that Mrs. Adebayo spent her final moments in prayer, and after saying “Amen,” peacefully passed on, an end many described as a testament to a life well lived.
As the curtain falls on her earthly journey, mourners say her memory will endure, not just in words, but in the lives she touched and the values she left behind.
