Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed former House of Representatives member, Saheed Fijabi, as the Chairman of the committee set up to organise activities marking the state’s 50th anniversary.
The appointment was announced in a letter signed by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, and obtained by The PUNCH in Ibadan on Monday. The 11-member committee is to commence work immediately.
Other members of the committee include former Head of Service, Ololade Agboola, who will serve as deputy chairman; Z.O. Ajuwon; Mustapha Areo; Fatimah Azeez; S.A. Adejumo; and John Alabi. Also listed are A.K. Bello; Ronke Adedayo, who will serve as secretary; Fatai Owoseni; and the Director General of Protocol, Samuel Badejo.
Oyo State was created on February 3, 1976, from the old Western State during the military administration of the late General Murtala Muhammed. At its inception, the state included present-day Osun State, which was later carved out in 1991.
