Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday presented a proposed budget of N891.99 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, a significant rise from the N684 billion approved for 2025.
Makinde made the presentation before lawmakers at the Oyo State House of Assembly in Ibadan, in the presence of top traditional rulers including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
According to the governor, the proposed budget allocates N389.34 billion to recurrent expenditure and N502.65 billion to capital projects.
Providing a breakdown, Makinde said the Infrastructure sector would receive the largest share with N210.02 billion, followed by Education with N155.21 billion. The Health sector is expected to get N70.81 billion, while Agriculture is allotted N19.99 billion. Other multisectoral allocations amount to N435.9 billion.
The governor described the budget as a continuation of his administration’s drive to accelerate development across the state.
