McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has held its 14th Matriculation Ceremony, formally welcoming 896 new students into its academic community.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, congratulated the fresh students and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and service. He highlighted the institution’s steady growth in student enrolment across its colleges and postgraduate programmes, describing it as a reflection of confidence in the university’s standards and vision.
Professor Igbasan charged the matriculating students to embrace discipline, punctuality, and mutual respect, stressing that McPherson University would remain unwavering in its faith-based values and pursuit of sound academic excellence. According to him, these core principles have continued to position the institution’s graduates for success both in Nigeria and globally.
Delivering his charge, the Visitor to the University and General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sam Aboyeji, urged the new students to cultivate desire, diligence, discipline, determination, and dependence on divine help. He encouraged them to remain devoted to God, noting that spiritual commitment is key to achieving total success in life.
Of the 896 matriculants, 881 were admitted into the Colleges of Allied Sciences, Computing, Humanities and Social Management Sciences, Law, and Nursing, while 15 students were enrolled in the School of Postgraduate Studies.
The event also featured the commissioning of newly donated musical instruments and a school bus, provided by the Parents’ Consultative Forum. University authorities expressed optimism that the proposed N1.1 billion Law College building would be completed by 2027, further strengthening the institution’s academic infrastructure.
