Fast rising British heavyweight sensation Moses Itauma delivered a statement performance on Saturday night, stopping veteran Dillian Whyte in under two minutes to cement his status as one of boxing’s hottest prospects.
Headlining a professional card for the first time, the 20-year-old wasted no time in seizing the spotlight. A series of sharp, punishing combinations culminated in a thunderous right hand that sent the 37-year-old Whyte crashing to the canvas.
Although the former world title challenger bravely beat the count, referee Mikael Hook swiftly intervened at 1:59 of the opening round, declaring Itauma the winner by technical knockout.
The victory extended Itauma’s unbeaten record to 13-0, with 11 of those wins coming by knockout, eight of them inside the very first round. Only twice has the south Londoner been forced beyond the second stanza in his career.
“What is next? I will fight anyone they put in front of me,” Itauma said afterwards, speaking to DAZN. “The crowd are saying Usyk. The team mentioned they want me to get some rounds out. Any of them can happen.”
