Popular evangelist Reverend Yinka Yusuf has issued a public apology to the Akwa Ibom State Government and its people, retracting previous statements in which he accused authorities of frustrating his planned religious gathering.
The apology follows a heated dispute surrounding the cancellation of Yusuf’s “Uyo One Million Crusade.” In a video released earlier, the cleric, who leads the Household of Love Churches, had accused the state chapters of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria of deliberately obstructing the event. He claimed to have invested millions moving equipment to Uyo before the event was called off.
Yusuf had further alleged that the state government withdrew approval for the use of the Ibom Hall Ground venue and pressured him to postpone his seven-day crusade to accommodate another event featuring a Kenyan prophet.
The Akwa Ibom State Government swiftly rejected his claims, labeling his comments as “hate speech” and threatening legal action. Officials also challenged Yusuf to provide evidence supporting his assertion that thousands of international evangelists were invited to the crusade.
