Ramadan is not just a month in the Islamic calendar, it is a deeply revered season of grace, prayer, and spiritual purification.

This year’s fasting, however, came with its own challenges, as global oil prices surged amid tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, further compounding economic pressures at home.

While many Nigerians were struggling to balance with the new price of petrol, President Bola Tinubu embarked on a two day visit to the UK, where he met with King Charles and prime minister Keir Starmer.

In his Eid message, delivered after observing prayers at Dodan Barracks, the President urged citizens to cooperate with the government in the fight against insecurity.

He also stressed the importance of religious tolerance, noting that peaceful coexistence remains key to national stability and progress.

Reflecting on the coinciding observances of Ramadan and Christian practices, President Bola Tinubu says that while worship styles may differ, belief in one God unites us.

Across the country, state governors echoed similar sentiments, extending Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslim faithful and encouraging Nigerians to uphold the values of compassion, unity, and peaceful coexistence.

They also offered prayers for continued peace and security nationwide.

At the residence of business mogul Rasak Okoya, where Eid prayers were also observed, worshipers reflected on the significance of the holy month.

Many expressed gratitude for the strength to complete the fast, while admitting they would miss the spiritual discipline, piety, and sense of togetherness that Ramadan fosters.

Some also noted that this year’s observance was particularly demanding due to the intense heat and prevailing economic realities.

The faithful offered prayers for the nation, with calls for unity and a renewed commitment to kindness, generosity, and love beyond the Ramadan season.

As muslim Umar look forward to the next Ramadan, it is expected that the lessons of this year’s fasting will become a norm, to foster peace, unity, love and togetherness among Nigerians.
