The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has firmly stated that partisan politics has no place in his divine assignment, declaring that not even an offer of one billion dollars could tempt him to enter the political arena.
The revered cleric made the declaration on Saturday while delivering a sermon during the impartation service of the church’s annual convention, Shiloh 2025.
The six-day event, with the theme “Breaking New Grounds,” is being held at the church’s international headquarters, Canaanland, in Ota.
Addressing a congregation of thousands, Oyedepo clarified the concept of the Church’s mandate to “rule,” cautioning against conflating spiritual authority with the pursuit of elected office. His sermon was titled “The Last Days Are Ordained the Groundbreaking Days of the Church of Christ.”
“The idea of ‘ruling’ ascribed to the Church should not be mistaken for holding political office,” he asserted. Bishop Oyedepo emphasised that genuine influence and leadership manifest powerfully in spheres such as business, enterprise, and other sectors of human endeavour.
He pointed to members of his congregation who are already “ruling” by creating employment for thousands and leading impactful organisations, arguing that societal authority is not confined to the titles of local government chairmen or other political positions.
He stated that divine enrichment enables believers to assume leading roles in their respective professions and fields, thereby fulfilling the mandate to govern outside the political framework.
