The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Kaduna State chapter, has suspended its 5-day warning strike.

This is contained in a statement issued by its chairman, Ishaku Yahaya, on Monday.

He explained that the level of seriousness and commitment made by the government through the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service and the Commissioner for Health resulted in the suspension of the warning strike and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

The chairman emphasized, “We resolved to suspend the five-day warning strike to give room for more negotiations and await the government to fulfill its side of the MoU.”

According to him, the strike which started on July 8, 2024, to press home their demands for an improved welfare package, recorded 100 per cent compliance.

He commended the resilience, doggedness, and massive support of the entire members of the association.

He added, “Therefore, the strike is hereby suspended and you are expected to resume your normal duties on July 10, 2024.”

Yahaya said that the State Administrative Council appreciated the massive support and was resolute in making the struggle for the betterment of their welfare a huge success.
