A tense on-field moment between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman has drawn criticism from fans, overshadowing part of Nigeria’s 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.
Video from Monday’s match shows Osimhen visibly upset with Lookman, pointing angrily and shouting. The Napoli striker was heard warning in Pidgin, “No try am again” “Don’t try that again” after a passage of play that frustrated him, despite Nigeria already being in control of the match.
The reaction has puzzled many, especially since Lookman had earlier assisted Osimhen for his second goal in the same game.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their disapproval. “What’s the meaning of this one? The team is winning and playing well. Why do you want to spoil it with this temper tantrum?” posted one user.
Another added, “The guy too proud, he thinks he’s better than everyone in the team.”
The incident highlights concerns over team chemistry as Nigeria prepares for a quarter-final clash against either Algeria or DR Congo. While the Super Eagles have won four straight matches in the tournament, maintaining unity could prove crucial in the tighter matches ahead.
