The Emperor and Doracs Owolabi Foundation (EDOF) has donated relief materials — including food items, clothing, cash gifts, and scholarships — to widows and indigent students in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The outreach, described as the foundation’s largest humanitarian intervention yet, drew dignitaries and stakeholders from across the country, highlighting the need for kindness and empathy as tools for building a better society.

Speaking at the giveaway ceremony, Erelu Arike Olajumoke Oluwafunmilayo, President of the Foundation, said her passion for humanitarian work stems from a lifelong desire to bring joy to others.

“I’m deeply passionate about giving and taking care of people in need. My mother used to tell me that even as a child, I always shared my food and money with friends. I can’t stand to see anyone unhappy, that’s what drives me to do this,” she said.

The event also saw the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs present a recognition award to the foundation for its consistent support to vulnerable groups. Responding to the honour, Erelu Oluwafunmilayo expressed gratitude, saying the recognition would further motivate her team to expand their reach.

“I grew up and schooled in Oyo State, so this recognition from my home state means a lot. It inspires us to continue to give our best and do even more for humanity,” she added.

According to Pastor Oluwapelumi Eluwole, Chief Coordinator of the Foundation, over 30 widows received relief materials, while several indigent students were awarded scholarships. He noted that this edition of the programme was particularly special, as it marked the first time the foundation’s president attended the ceremony in person.

Beneficiaries, overcome with joy, praised the Foundation’s benevolence and prayed for the continued success of Erelu Oluwafunmilayo and her team.

Aside from distributing relief materials, attendees were also treated to full meals during the event, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to holistic care and community upliftment.
