The leadership of Ayegun/Oleyo communities in Oluyole Local Government Area has denied viral reports of a bandit invasion, describing them as misinformation and urging residents to continue their daily activities without fear.

In a joint statement signed by the Chairman of the residents’ association, Professor Saka Jelili, and Secretary Mr Abimbola Ajibola, the community clarified that recent arrests made by the Nigerian Immigration Service in the Ashipa and Paseda areas were unrelated to banditry and did not involve weapons, contrary to widespread claims in audio and video clips circulating online.

“The Baale-in-Council, general executive committee, and residents of Ayegun/Oleyo hereby debunk the report of the arrest of bandits in some of our communities as portrayed in a video and audio recordings that have gone viral as misinformation and unwarranted distortion,” the statement read.

The statement further explained that the arrests on November 10, 2025, were misrepresented and that there was no invasion or threat to the security of the area.

Community leaders have called for responsible reporting and urged the public to disregard unverified claims, assuring that the situation remains peaceful and under control.
