The Oyo State Government has announced traffic restrictions around Mapo Hall in Ibadan from 7:00 a.m. on Friday to ensure security and smooth conduct of the coronation of the 44th Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

The state’s organising committee for the coronation, inaugurated by the government to oversee preparations, disclosed the plan on Tuesday.

According to the committee, the affected routes include Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall; Born Photo Junction inward Oja’ba; Idi-Arere Junction inward Oja’ba; and Itamerin Junction inward Mapo Hall. All will be closed to vehicular movement from early Friday morning.

To ease congestion, the government has also designated three official car parks for guests. These are located at the Ibadan North Local Government Area car park in front of the Immigration Office, Agodi; the football field beside Yemetu Police Station; and Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado.

The statement added that the traffic diversions and security measures were necessary given the expected attendance of President Bola Tinubu at the coronation ceremony.
