Search operations are ongoing at Royal Lodge in Berkshire after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was released under investigation following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that its statement issued the previous evening remains unchanged, noting that searches at the duke’s former residence are still in progress.
However, the BBC has reported limited visible police activity at the scene.
The former prince was photographed on Thursday night arriving at the Sandringham Estate after being taken into custody earlier in the day.
Charles III, who was reportedly not informed in advance of the arrest, issued a brief statement emphasising that “the law must take its course.” The William, Prince of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales are understood to share the King’s position.
The arrest, first disclosed by the BBC, follows confirmation from Thames Valley Police that officers were reviewing a complaint concerning the alleged disclosure of confidential information by Andrew to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Recall that Andrew has previously denied any wrongdoing connected to Epstein. He has not responded to the BBC’s recent requests for comment regarding specific claims linked to the publication of a large volume of Epstein-related files earlier this year.
