As preparations for the Prof. Akin Oyebode Cup 2025 intensify, Pelumi Abiara, Head of Operations, has stressed the importance of due diligence in the ongoing online registration process for the football tournament. Abiara has explained the need for accuracy and transparency to ensure a fair and competitive tournament.
The online registration platform streamlines the process, offering efficiency and accessibility.
“It centralizes data, reduces errors, and simplifies registration for participants across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas,” Abiara said.
The system supports real-time tracking, enabling organizers to plan effectively.
The decision to peg players not up to 13 years old was chosen to balance talent development and player safety. “U-13 players are at a critical stage, young enough for develop but not physically mature enough to compete at with 16, 17 year olds,” Abiara explained..
Abiara urged participants to register on or before August 31, 2025, via the user-friendly online portal. “We’re maintaining a strict timeline,” he said, encouraging coaches to act quickly.
Only registered players will be screened, with thorough age and eligibility checks. “Due diligence is essential to prevent issues like age cheating,” Abiara stated.
Screening will follow the registration deadline, ensuring only verified players compete.
