The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of retired public servants, pledging continued prompt payment of pensions and sustained respect for those who have served the state.

The governor gave the assurance after receiving the leadership of the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries at the State House.

The delegation was led by Otunba Nurudeen Ojora Adejiyan and Mrs. Dr. Abeke Taire.

He emphasized that public service in the state does not end at retirement, noting that former Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries dedicated significant years of their lives to the development of Lagos and deserve dignity and recognition in retirement.

Sanwo-Olu stated that the state government remains consistent and timely in meeting its pension obligations, stressing that retirees should not have to worry about the payment of their entitlements after years of faithful service.

He added that the responsibility of ensuring prompt payments rests with the government and is being taken seriously.

While acknowledging that there is always room for improvement, the governor maintained that the administration remains focused on honouring those who have contributed to the growth and progress of the state.
