The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, in connection with the abduction of a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area.
In a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the child’s mother reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent.
According to Adebisi, the suspect used the stolen phone to contact the father of the child, demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira for his release.
The PRO explained that the suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody, and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh condemned the abduction and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent and capital crimes in Lagos.
