Fresh fears have gripped parts of Kwara State following reports that suspected terrorists have begun circulating warning letters to several communities, threatening imminent attacks.
Findings by Saturday PUNCH indicate that in the past six days alone, letters have been delivered to at least four communities across the state, heightening anxiety among residents.
On Thursday, a threat letter was reportedly dropped in Ira, a community linking Inaja and Aho towns in Oyun Local Government Area. The development has intensified concerns about a possible expansion of violent activities in the area.
Sources disclosed that the suspected terrorists had earlier sent a similar letter to Dunshigogo community in Kaiama Local Government Area. This came just days after the February 3 attack on Woro town, which reportedly left more than 176 people dead and 38 others abducted.
The circulation of the letters has triggered panic in affected communities. Residents of Ira, Inaja and Aho were said to have begun fleeing their homes, fearing an impending assault.
A copy of one of the letters seen by our correspondents was signed by “The Writer (SANUFH),” though the identity and meaning of the acronym remain unclear.
